OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety ( OTHM IDipOHS) course is designed for Health and Safety Professionals to advance their professional career or undertake further postgraduate study, It covers all the aspects of occupational health and safety practice, including risk management, occupational health, promoting a positive health and safety culture and preparing a business case for investment in health and safety.

Entry Requirements:

For entry onto the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety qualification, learners must possess:

  • Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF certificate or diploma or equivalent recognized qualification that covers the following basic concepts within Occupational Health & Safety:

Qualifications that fulfill this requirement include:

  • British Safety Council Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
  • NCFE IOSH Level 3 Certificate in Safety and Health for Business
  • NCRQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

Course Contents:

OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safetyconsists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of48 credits, 480 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 180 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Mandatory Units:

  • Health and Safety Management Principles and Policy (8 credits)
  • Health and Safety Management Practice (10 credits)
  • Risk and Incident Management (8 credits)
  • Promoting a Positive Health and Safety Culture (6 credits)
  • Health and Safety Law, Regulation and Influence (8 credits)
  • Development of the Health and Safety Practitioner (8 credits)

Exam Assessment and Verification:

All 6 units within this qualification are internally assessed by the center and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes. To achieve a ‘Pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor. The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.

OTHM approved Centers are responsible for managing learners who have not achieved a Pass for the qualification having completed the assessment. However, OTHM expects at a minimum, that centers must have in place a clear feedback mechanism to learners by which they can effectively retrain the learner in all the areas required before re-assessing the learner.

OTHM LEVEL 6 CERTIFICATE IN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

OTHM Level 6 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety course is designed for Health and Safety Professionals to promote his careers in HSE Field.

COURSE CONTENTS:

OTHM Level 6 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety consists of 4 mandatory units for a combined total of 32 credits, 320 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Mandatory Units

  • Health and Safety Management Principles and Policy (8 credits)
  • Health and Safety Management Practice (10 credits)
  • Risk and Incident Management (8 credits)
  • Promoting a Positive Health and Safety Culture (6 credits)

Total Qualification Time (TQT):

Total Qualification Time (TQT) is the number of notional hours which represents an estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected to be required in order for a Learner to achieve and demonstrate the achievement of the level of attainment necessary for the award of a qualification. Total Qualification Time is comprised of the following two elements – a) the number of hours which an awarding organization has assigned to a qualification for Guided Learning.

  1. b) an estimate of the number of hours a Learner will reasonably be likely to spend in preparation, study or any other form of participation in education or training, including assessment, which takes place as directed by – but, unlike Guided Learning, not under the Immediate Guidance or Supervision of – a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training. Guided Learning Hours (GLH):

Guided Learning Hours (GLH) is defined as the hours that a teacher, lecturer or other member of staff is available to provide immediate teaching support or supervision to a student working towards a qualification. Credit value is defined as being the number of credits that may be awarded to a Learner for the successful achievement of the learning outcomes of a unit. One credit is equal to 10 hours of TQT.
